“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1v14
For the follower of Christ, life should be an adventure of faith.
An adventure involves peril, risk, danger and hazard however there is always a sense of something unusual or exciting along the way. Any adventure always has a quest or goal. Indiana Jones left the comfort of the classroom in search of something priceless be it the Holy Grail, Crystal Skull or Ark of the Covenant. We are invited by the Lord to take steps of faith out of the comfort of our world in search of something amazing.
I have been encouraging the Church here to see their walk of faith as an adventure with the quest of seeing more of the Glory of God manifest in our midst. In John 1, when the word became flesh the disciples saw the glory of Jesus, as he dwelt amongst them. The quest we are on in this generation is to see that same glory and for “the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.” Habakkuk 2v14
In order to see this become a reality we need to see the word become flesh so that people around us will behold His Glory. This is the adventure to bring the Glory of God before people in our nation so that the knowledge of the Glory covers Wales and beyond as the waters cover the sea.
Adventures
What, however, is the “Glory of God”? We see in Exodus chapter 33 when Moses asks to see the Glory of God that the Lord says “I will make all my goodness pass before”. When the Disciples beheld the Glory they saw Jesus demonstrating the power of God and the goodness of God. The Glory then was the manifestation of God’s presence through the person of Jesus, God’s goodness through the acts of Jesus and God’s power through the works of Jesus. So when we say we are seeking to cover the earth with his Glory we are looking to cover it with the power, presence and goodness of Jesus. It is the manifestation of the presence, power and goodness of God that will cover the earth with the knowledge of His Glory.
So as we look ahead the quest we are on as a body could be summarized as;
• The quest is for the presence of Jesus manifesting in our midst.
• The quest is to see the goodness, the presence and the power of God manifest here in our lives.
• The quest is to be transformed from one degree of Glory to another degree of God
• The quest is to cover our earth with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea
I want to encourage you to join me on this amazing adventure of faith. Don’t settle for class room Christianity but let us seek to see the manifesting of the Glory of God in this generation
