02 Apr Easter
Hi everyone. It’s Good Friday today so that means on Sunday you may well be eating more chocolate than usual. Here are some Youth favourites:
However in Friday Night Youth we recently discussed why Easter Sunday is actually about much more than eating chocolate eggs!! The arguments were quite passionate. Why? Well the first verse from the bible that comes to my mind when trying to explain what Easter is really about is John 3v16.
I think the first part of it relates to Good Friday because it’s the day that we remember exactly what Jesus did. He came and died for us. He could have used his divine powers to stop any of his enemies, the Roman soldiers, the Jewish priests, but he didn’t. Instead He chose to die. His death was a gift to us: and it was a really painful death, on a cross. Did you know that crucifixion is one of the most painful deaths known to man?
Why did Jesus do it? Because HE LOVES US. I think the second half of this verse relates to Easter Sunday. Because three days after Jesus died, He rose from the dead, meaning He had paid the price for all our mistakes, He finished the job and if we believe in Him we can now have eternal life-life that comes from a close relationship with God. This is what we need to think about at Easter.
Good Friday is good because Jesus showed his great love for us by dying on the cross so that not only could we receive eternal life, but that we could know Jesus as a FRIEND.
I love this verse (John15v13) because Jesus is showing us in words what the greatest of all friendships involves-laying down our lives for our others. And of course Jesus didn’t just speak about it, He went and did it!
This is a good little article for young people on the Resurrection:

This week’s Team Talk is presented by me and I want to look at one of the greatest things anybody ever said.
IT IS FINISHED.
But who said it and why? Take a look.
SONG OF THE BLOG this month has got to be this ‘THE GREATEST DAY IN HISTORY’
We’ve sung this in church at Easter before-because it’s a Happy Day! It’s a really popular song, so am sharing another version which has lots of great film clips to support the message.
