05 Jul You are not alone
As the pastor of a church I get to meet and talk with people, sharing in the highs and lows of their lives. I celebrate the birth of a child and get the privilege of dedicating people’s children and I have been there when people have lost a child. I have the joy of marrying people and share in the grief of a family when I conduct funerals. People all experience the same things in life and in all the various things we go through there are only two ways to live. You can live with God in your life or you can live without Him. Now God created you to live life with Him so we as human beings are ill equipped to go through everything that life throws at us by ourselves. If life feels too hard then maybe it’s because you are living it without Him.
When you become a Christian, Jesus comes to reside in your heart by the Holy Spirit. He promises you that “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” No matter where you go or what happens in your life Jesus promises to be there for you. In fact the scripture tells us “He is a very present help in a time of need”. Isn’t it incredible to think that God promises to be our help in a time of trouble? We don’t have to go through life by ourselves but instead He is there encouraging and supporting us along the way.
Furthermore the bible promises that if I love God and I am called according to His purposes He makes all things work together for my good. Another way of saying this is that the unseen hand of God is working in the affairs of men to make sure things work out for His children. Does this mean I will never suffer any hardship, disappointment or pain as I travel along the road ahead? of course not, however it does mean that I can be confident that HE is going to turn everything around for my good. I am also confident that as I go along the way He is there strengthening and supporting me.
Jesus will never give up on you and will never leave you. In those dark times that you have been through when it seemed no one understood or cared for you, Jesus cared for you. When you felt all alone Jesus was there for you. Loneliness for many people is the curse of our modern day culture. However in the midst of loneliness Jesus says I will never leave you alone.
I have been a Christian for 30 years and I cannot understand why people will choose to live life without God. There is a God who loves you and wants you to be reconciled with Him. If you don’t know Jesus why don’t you start this journey of discovery by praying the simple prayer “God if you are there reveal yourself to me”. That’s what I did and it wasn’t long before I came to know this God. The Bible says that God will be found by us if we seek Him with all our heart. He is waiting for you to make the next move.
Every Blessing
Alex
