PATIENCE

PATIENCE

Patience is an interesting subject and something that is quite misunderstood. On one level everyone seems to have a lack of it and we can moan about how much we need it. I can certainly think of many situations where I find it hard not to be patient: particularly when I’m driving….!

Or maybe you moan more about how much other people need to be patient?!

On another level however, patience is an incredibly powerful character trait. In fact the Bible refers to it continuously and I believe when applied, it is a powerful spiritual force. I want to just look at three verses in a little more detail. Did you know that Patience has a direct relationship with love? The Apostle Paul who is one of the greatest Christians who ever lived, actually said that Love was the most important thing we should aspire to. And so did Jesus-look at what he said about love and what he called the greatest commandments.

But did you know that LOVE is actually also about being PATIENT?

So if the bible says LOVE IS PATIENT, in order to walk in love, we probably need to exercise or show some Patience.

This second verse I’ve chosen to look at is to encourage us to never give up. It’s related to patience because sometimes we can jump the gun and miss out on God’s best by being impatient. Being impatient leads to throwing in the towel and giving up. And it can be hard when we’re doing what we know to be right and nothing seems to happen. However God tells us to be PATIENT because in due season, in other words at the right time, we will reap a reward or answer to prayer. BE PATIENT. DON’T GIVE UP! You know every expert or champion was once a beginner-they had to be patient as they moved forward and closer to achieving their goals. As we move forward and closer to realising the dreams God has placed in our hearts, to achieving our destinies as young men and women of God, we must show PATIENCE.

I mentioned earlier that Patience is like a spiritual force. As Christians, we live in the world (like Bridgend!) but our spirits are connected to an unseen spiritual world. Sometimes we don’t understand what is going on in life, but it’s wise to trust that God is working behind the scenes on our behalf. We can’t always see it but at some point what is going on in the unseen world becomes visible in the seen world. So have a little patience. God is doing stuff, we just can’t see it yet.

And now a humorous look at Patience for you…. !
