The Power of the Resurrection

The Power of the Resurrection

“For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.” Romans 5 vs.17

This week we celebrate and remember that Jesus died for us and then rose again from the dead in resurrection power. When Jesus rose from the dead it astounded the whole world. Our God laid aside his majesty and become a man in order to pay the ultimate sacrifice for you and me. The Bible declares that God demonstrated his love to us in this, while we were still sinners Christ died. If you were the only one He would have died just for you. This love is extraordinary and it is directed towards you and me.

The disciples enveloped in His love and empowered by the Holy Spirit turned the Roman world upside down with the Gospel. On the day of Pentecost over 3000 were added to the Church. The apostles performed many miracles and countless thousands were added to the body of Christ. The message of the resurrected Lord went all over the known world and the Church was established in the power of the Holy Spirit.

I have been struck over the last few days on what Jesus accomplished on the cross. In the ultimate demonstration of love he laid his life down in our place fully satisfying the justice of God in order that God’s abundant provision of grace and the gift of righteousness can be released to us. It was God’s original purpose that we should reign in life and through the death and resurrection of Jesus we can once again reign in life.

Isaiah 53 teaches us that he took upon himself our sorrows and grief so that we could live in the Joy of the Father. He was pierced for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities. The punishment he took on himself allowed us to receive peace with God. The scourging he suffered was for our healing. The Lord laid the iniquity of us all upon Him that we would not suffer the justice of God but instead receive His mercy. Truly Jesus was our substitute but the benefits so painfully won can only be received through faith.

This Easter let us take time to consider all that Jesus has done for us.

God Bless You

Alex

It is so amazing what God has done for us. For me. That someone would die just for me seems unbelievable until we understand God’s heart.. Thank you Alex for continuing to remind me of who God is.
